Gig here, gig there, gig everywhere
- Posted by Rob (#1) on February 20, 2006 17:11 CET
It's only February but this year's gig list is already massive:
- 7/1: The Riplets (Waterfront, Rotterdam)
- 22/1: Music Against Cancer (Melkweg, Amsterdam)
- 31/1: MxPx/The Matches (Nighttown, Rotterdam)
- 1/2: MxPx/The Matches (Melkweg, Amsterdam)
- 2/2: MxPx/The Matches (Effenaar, Eindhoven)
- 3/2: (Nighttown, Rotterdam)
- 9/2: (Waterfront, Rotterdam)
But I wouldn't be able to make my 50-a-year target without any future plans:
- 23/2: Hard-Fi (Melkweg, Amsterdam)
- 26/2: (Patronaat, Haarlem)
- 3/3: Hard-Fi (Nighttown, Rotterdam)
- 8/3: The Riplets (Paradiso, Amsterdam)
- 9/3: Bullet For My Valentine (Melkweg, Amsterdam)
- 10/3: (Eurodusnie, Leiden)
- 12/3: (Patronaat, Haarlem)
- 20/3: PinBoys (The Frontline, Gent)
- 14/4: Less Than Jake (Melkweg, Amsterdam)
- 25/4: HIM (Brixton Academy, London)
- 29-30/4: Give It A Name (Earl's Court, London)
- 21/5: PinBoys (Loppen, Copenhagen)
Rock on!

Birthday gift idea? Buffybot!
- Posted by Rob (#1) on February 20, 2006 17:28 CET
There are still a couple of months left until my birthday, but I know what I'll be asking for: a partnership between Honda, RealDoll, the open source community and United Talent Agency. And roughly $200.000 in cash. Let me explain.
First of all, the Honda ASIMO would be a perfect birthday gift as it is. Who wouldn't want his own personal humanoid robot?! These babies are über-cool. Unfortunately I haven't yet seen them do anthing but serving trays and running 6km/hour, so work has to be done on the list of features and capabilities. The evolution of humanoids chart shows a promising future however. (Lease price: $166.000 per year.)
Secondly, Real Doll seems to be the perfect choice of partner to give these robots a more human appearance. Silicone might lose out against flesh and blood, but obviously even Honda will realise people would accept it sooner than having to deal with walking and talking tin cans. (Retail price: $6500.)
Then, some software updates are required for specific erotic routines and common catch-phrases that would turn me on such as "I wanna hurt you, but I can't resist the sinister attraction of your cold and muscular body!". (Price: free, surely some open source geeks will write this. If that's not working out, sub-license FUFME software.)
Last but not least, the designer of my birthday gift robot should get in touch with UTA and acquire the likeness rights for Sarah Michelle Gellar. (Price unknown, but I'll settle for Keri Sable likeness rights anyway.)
Et voila: your very own Buffybot for under $200K. Shag away, Spike and Spike-minded people. Porn will never be the same again. Expect a "DIY Buffybot HOWTO" guide on this journal as soon as I've collected the money to go ahead with these plans. PayPal me.

New journal categories
- Posted by Rob (#1) on February 20, 2006 17:31 CET
I've added a few new journal categories and have re-categorised existing entries in order to match them. The new topics are:
- Sports. Mostly football updates from the pub (go PSV!) but don't be surprised if the occasional baseball entry apears.
- Gigs. Planned nights out, previews, reviews.. and as soon as I finish MMS updates even live coverage from all the (punk) rock (and roll) shows I attend.
- Birds. No, not because of the flu epidemic but because even though I am bendy I will always fancy lasses best. This category is not for personal entries though, it is mostly a place to dump typical drooling journal content about star crushes (celebrities, porn actresses, Buffybot, that kind of stuff). I even was a nice guy and blurred Kate's nipples on the category icon, not that anyone would ever consider this journal family-friendly.
Enjoy!

Two pint limit
- Posted by Rob (#1) on February 20, 2006 23:22 CET
Best idea I had in a while: go home after just two pints of Magners. I'm a bit tired and there's some work I want to finish and some phone calls to make first thing tomorrow morning so I'm going to get some sleep. Some rest will also help me survive the PSV game tomorrow plus the two gigs later this week. No €600 bingo jackpot for me tonight!

Web site for Dick Barry
- Posted by Rob (#1) on February 20, 2006 23:49 CET
Just had a good chat with Gypsy Dave about Dick Barry's web site which I might be making. Definitely will involve some work but I think we'll be able to reach an understanding and be able to get a good presence on-line.
Should also talk to Hermance about the web site. Anything I can do for good, original live music I will!
