Pandora's Box

HorrorPops

Like Last.FM, Pandora is an on-line radio station aimed at providing music similar to what users already like. It is however not entirely flawless:

To start things off, here's a track that's musically similar to HorrorPops called "Ghouls" by Horrorpops, that features rockabilly revival style, basic rock song structures, a subtle use of vocal harmony, mild rhythmic syncopation and repetitive melodic phrasing.

(Why we're not playing Horrorpops)

We're not playing HorrorPops, only similar music.. for example, Horrorpops! Methinks the developers of Pandora need a small lesson on case-sensitivity. (And please, no mean remarks about my auto-linking engine which is case-sensitive as well: that's intentional.)

Au revoir!

European Union

Apparently some people still can't get used to France's marginalised role in European and world affairs:

French President Jacques Chirac showed his temper at the EU summit when a French business leader addressed delegates in English.

He stormed out of a session when Ernest-Antoine Seilliere said he chose English "because that is the accepted business language of Europe today".

Mr Chirac told reporters on Friday he was "deeply shocked" that a Frenchman chose to address the summit in English.

Funny bloke. But it is indeed quite shocking that people speak English at all in France, one of the least intelligent nations in Europe.

Death to Islam! ;-)

Anglosphere

Apparently not everyone in Afghanistan has read my entry on Western enlightenment and moral superiority. And while my post title is mere sarcasm, religious freedom remains a no-no in the Islamic world as Abdul Rahman might still face the death penalty for his religious beliefs:

More than a thousand protesters took to the streets in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif on Monday morning.

They demanded that Mr Rahman be tried and executed for converting to Christianity.

With chants of "Death to Bush!", they warned the international community to keep off the case.

And there's the silver lining of this particular cloud: apparently the Anglosphere has marginalised the rest of the world to the point where the POTUS now represents the entire international community. Good job, Dubya!

Thought of the day

Sports

I can play tennis on my Sony Ericsson all day but the computer graphics will never ever look as fit as Sharapova does tonight. Can't say Kirilenko is unattractive either actually. Makes one wonder why I'm paying more attention to the Spurs game.
