My Chemical Romance, why not?

Gigs

Just as I was talking to Kirsten, whining about a lack of interesting gigs in Holland, I found out that is coming to Amsterdam. So, even though I still haven't written about my last gig trip, here's my updated list of upcoming shows:

Still a bit boring, but I should be able to add a big number of dates when the HorrorPops return to Europe!

If you're surprised to see that second London date: thanks for knowing me so well. And yes, I suppose I have made up my mind and I'll give the whole just-friends thing a try. Again.

Mental note: Brixton Academy doesn't do venue pickups, arrange a UK address to send the tickets to. I should probably ask Isy, it's her birthday that night so obviously I'll have to pay her a visit anyway.

I don't think I'll stay at easyHotel

Urbanity

London is known for tiny hotel rooms. If you suffer from even the slightest case of obesity or if you seriously like a girl, you'd better spend loads of money because affordable hotels will not make a good impression.

And if it's up to easyHotel, that's how things shall remain.

I had heard of the EasyGroup (or whatever) plans, before, but I just read on Londonist that easyHotel has opened shop in Kensington. Just for fun and giggles, I checked rates for the likely dates of my next trip to the world's gig capital:

£110 (One double bed. Shower, basin and toilet en-suite. No windows.)

That's rather insane. Obviously it will be impossible to always get the advertised "from £10" rate, but almost fourty quid a night? For that price I can get a very decent, refurbished, hotel in Bayswater such as the Blakemore hotel. With a bath, elevator and a window! And free housekeeping instead of £10 a day. And free TV instead of £5 a day. And no orange interior causing severe headaches.

But who knows, a tenner a night could be sufficient for an easyDate.
